DuroTerra Presents at GeoStructures’ 10th Annual Technical Conference
Last week we had the opportunity to present at GeoStructures’ 10th Annual Technical conference in New York City on March 12th. The meeting, led by representatives from GeoStructures, Geopier and DuroTerra, brought together top geotechnical and structural engineering firms throughout the New York and New Jersey areas.
The meeting explored alternative, cost-effective deep foundation and ground improvement solutions when encountering problem sites, poor soils or expensive deep foundations. Topics discussed in depth included:
- Geopier Rammed Aggregate Pier Design, Construction, Quality Control, and Construction Coordination.
- Ductile Iron Pile Design and Application
- Specifying Performance Based Ground Improvement Options
- Geotechnical and Structural Considerations for Rammed Aggregate Pier Supported Floor Slabs
- Rammed Aggregate Piers for Liquefaction Mitigation
- Geopier Rigid Inclusion Design and Application
The most frequently asked question surrounding ductile iron piles was when and where the systems could be used. With both end-bearing and friction pile systems available, Ductile Iron Piles are an extremely versatile and economical solution. DIPs should be considered when micropiles, helical anchors, augercast piles and driven piles are being evaluated and/or you face one or more of the following challenges: variable grades, adjacent structures, vibrations, difficult access, constrained sites, low overhead and poor soil conditions.
We would like to thank GeoStructures for hosting a best-in-class educational event and for incorporating Ductile Iron Piles into the technical agenda. And thank you to all of the attendees who spent the day with us.
